2013 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup - Men
Semi final phase of Challenge Cup started in Ufa, where Ural received one of the best european teams of this season - polish Delecta.
Before the Challenge Cup semi final Delecta won the regular championship in Poland and reached the polish playoffs' semifinal. Ural is struggling for the best place in the table before the russian championship's playoffs.
The first set was dominated by the hosts. Ural took a sharp start by knocking out Delecta - 25:19. However, the Poles quickly adapted to the Dinamo sport hall and imposed serious fight on Ural.
Very interesting were second and third sets during which the opponents by turn took four points lead, but in the end the gap was minimal.
Loosing in the fourth set with score 23:24 russians by the serves of Andrey Ashchev made three breaks in a row and won the set - 26:24. The key ball earned by block Ural's captain Alexey Kazakov.
The most efficient scorer of the game was Delecta's opposite player David Konarski - 20 points, also should be noted the Ural's middle blocker Andrey Aschev who made six successful blocks.
- Today we played well against very strong team from Ufa, - says Delecta's head coach Petr Makovski
. - I think that the fans liked the game. We'll do everything to win in Poland. We'll have to win there twice - in the main match and in the golden set.
- We can say a lot about today's match, but all our thoughts are now about the game in Poland, - said the Ural's head coach Angiolino Frigoni
after the match. - We knew before the match that it wouldn't be easy, because we studied Delecta and watched their games in polish championship. This team is on high level.
- Of course, the game in Poland will be different, - said Ural's captain Alexey Kazakov
. - There will be a lot of fans and Delecta will be different team, probably with another setter. Our problem is that today's match actually didn't give us anything - all will be decided by the match in Bydgoszcz.
